I’ve always found Hippos incredibly fascinating although very unpredictable. This particular image was taken from very close proximity whilst lying on the bank of the river but in no danger. Our guide Willie the Leopard (the nickname I gave him as his ability to find and spot leopards is next level) who can mimic virtually every wild animal was busy making wheeze, honks, grunts, bellows and squeals which got their full attention, so much so the whole Mob looked straight into the camera as I pressed the shutter. Just shows the difference a great guide can make, and William is definitely the exception not the rule.
